Employment advice, measured properly.
Kelvin takes its name from the river that runs through Glasgow's west end — and from the scientist the river named, whose work made precise measurement the foundation of good decisions. That's the standard this consultancy is built on: assess the situation accurately, tell the client the truth about it, and act on it properly.
Brandon Duffy, Founder and Principal Consultant
Brandon began his professional career in risk and compliance consultancy for large corporate institutions, working across a range of financial and legal compliance disciplines, before focusing his practice on litigation. He brings several years' experience in the Scottish Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal, gained across the full range of matters within the tribunals' jurisdiction. That experience covers the whole life of a case: assessing its strength honestly, gathering and testing the evidence, preparing responses, statements and hearing bundles, and representation at hearings.
Tribunal experience includes:
- Unfair and constructive dismissal
- Discrimination, harassment and victimisation under the Equality Act 2010
- Unlawful deduction from wages, redundancy and working-time disputes
- ET3 preparation, disclosure, witness evidence and hearing bundles
- ACAS conciliation and settlement negotiation
- Preliminary, final and remedy hearing representation
“I started Kelvin out of a genuine passion for fearless employment litigation — the discipline of assessing a case honestly, building it properly, and seeing it through. I want employers to navigate what is often a complex area of law with confidence: getting the best outcomes for their business day to day, and knowing that if the worst happens and a claim lands at the door, business doesn't stop. The matter is picked up by an experienced professional who will pursue every proper avenue and use every available tool — resolving it early on the best achievable terms, or contesting it thoroughly at hearing.
I also saw a gap the industry created for itself. Outsourced HR and employment-law support in this country is dominated by conglomerates — and at that scale, a personal relationship simply isn't feasible. You get a helpline, not an adviser who knows your business. Kelvin was founded to be the opposite: the employment-law and HR partner that's there whenever you need it, without the salary cost of bringing that expertise in-house.”
